Sewage Treatment with DAF systems by Tycheros – Chatzis OE

Our company designs and manufactures biological wastewater treatment plants with high quality standards and aiming at excellent results for the protection of the environment and your business.

With absolute consistency in the financial relations and the observance of the schedules of the projects that we undertake, our company is the obvious right choice for the creation of the sewage treatment plants, created by the production process of your unit.

Dairy Unit Sewage Treatment

The production of milk, butter, cheese or yogurt, using pasteurization or homogenization produces effluents with high levels of BOD and COD loads and must be reduced before discharge to natural recipients or municipal treatment plants.

Typical by-products include whey, whey and their derivatives. Large amounts of water are used during the process, producing wastewater containing dissolved sugars, proteins, fats and possibly additive residues.

Characteristics of wastewater from dairy units

Biochemical oxygen demand (BOD), with an average ranging from 0.8 to 2.5 kg per metric ton (kg / t) of milk in untreated wastewater

Chemical oxygen demand (COD), which is usually about 1.5-3 times the BOD level

Total suspended solids (TSS), at 100–1,000 milligrams per liter (mg / l)

Total dissolved solids (TDS): phosphorus (10–100 mg / l) and nitrogen (approximately 6% of BOD level).

A dairy often produces bad odors which also need to be controlled. Tycheros-Chatzis OE designs and manufactures integrated solutions for the effective management of wastewater treatment requirements, as well as odor control of your own production unit.

Our solution includes the following benefits.

Optimization of water use in the production process with the possibility of saving
Separation of wastewater from sanitary facilities
Energy recovery using a heat exchanger for cooling and condensing
Use of high pressure nozzles to minimize water use

Sewage reuse from the unit can also be predicted by using adsorption and membrane separation among other processes. The treated water after treatment can be used as irrigation water after treatment with activated carbon.
